I know, I know. I know, I know, I KNOW. . . .I said I wasn’t going to post another flyingnotscreaming essay until March. The plan was to finish up some other writing projects before recommitting to a weekly deadline, but then I had a chance meeting with Andrew Hallenbeck (see next week’s post.) And after that, in amongst the holiday bustle, several other ideas rose to the surface, and I found myself frantically scribbling them out on pieces of scratch paper. Ideas that just can’t wait until March.
In the past couple of weeks, I’ve realized several things. One, I need my flyingnotscreaming essays. They order me, they make me see the world around me, they stretch me. I also came to understand that my new format–limiting my essays to 500 words–allows me to return to the original premise of this blog as outlined in my About page: To illuminate the bits and pieces of grace, insight, and wisdom that help hold me aloft each week as I attempt to soar, and to write about them concisely and beautifully.
So, flyingnotscreaming posts are continuing without interruption, but with a few changes. The post will be shorter–much shorter–and, I hope, more spontaneous. If I have a week now and then when the creative sap is not flowing and the grace is hidden behind unexpected interruptions and a packed schedule, I will let the weekly deadline pass.
I’d appreciate any feedback regarding the new, shorter form–especially if you see me veering off track. As always, thank you for reading, for commenting, and for participating in my flight.
Whoo Hooo! This already makes my New Year Better. I have come to depend on you to smell the roses for me 🙂
I so look forward to your postings. Whatever time line they end up being on, I will continue to be one of your biggest fans. Like Corrie, you help me get to see the picture outside the confines of my little office.
